Front Suspension Installation Sept 08

The front suspension and brake pieces were removed and cleaned. The suspension bits and brake calipers were sent out for powder coating, bright red of course! I wasn't all that thrilled with the powder coating work, but it was adequate. I painted everything else, the upright, hub etc satin black. When it all came together on that beautiful Ratco frame, it looked great!!

Here's a shot of the all major suspension components, and my horrible carpet!

A tighter shot of the lower spring pans and the assembled upright to the right.

A tighter shot of the upper and lower wishbone bits, note that anywhere a bushing or nut would go was masked off.

Here's a picture of both the upright assemblies. The axles were upgraded using Uncle Jacks Stub Axle kit, an absolute must in my opinion. The stock axles are not worthy!

The brake calipers came out really nice! We had to disassemble the calipers, that is split the 2 sides, before powder coating. The o-rings were replaced and of course, all of hardware was upgraded to aircraft quality.

A bottom shot showing the EBC Green Stuff brake pads.

The fulcrum pins were the first to go on. Note the MS21250 12 point cap screws, overkill? Yeah, but why not?

In this shot  you can see the Good Part sourced Nylatron bushing kit for the upper wishbone.

And here for the lower wishbone, again with that hardware!

And boom! It's all together and looking good!

Same side from the front. I really like the way this black and red color combination has worked out.

Yes, I did spend a little time buffing the trunnions!

Both sides completely assembled and the frame back safely under the tub. Up next, installing the seat bracket...
